This is a field that remains WIDE OPEN. I’ll toss out five of the usual suspects and then I’m going to dig around for some more names to bring them into the race. The oddball, the esoteric, the sexy: he’s the man outside the mold.
- Christopher Plummer, Beginners
- Albert Brooks, Drive
- Viggo Mortensen, A Dangerous Method
- Nick Nolte, Warrior
- David Thewlis, Warhorse
Christopher Plummer, “Beginners”
Most critics seem in be in sync about one thing: Plummer gettin’ an Oscar. With more than eight decades behind him, it’s about damn time Captain Von Trapp got some love from the Academy, as most agree his recently-outed father dying of cancer is a career-best performance for the Canadian
So, you’re thinking of the award as a career achievement honor, yes? I’m curious if you’re a CP fansite….tell me more about your website….Thanks!
Hitler’s Grave is for me one movie that deserves to not only get nominations but seriously win some heavyweight awards as the true sleeper of the year with a knock out story and best film status not to mention the best supporting actor for Vadim Glowna
This movie comes out on Oct 21 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1524130/ and I plan to keep an eye out for it. Where did you see it, Marie?
Christopher Plummer is far better than anybody on the list as far as I’m concerned. But that’s just my opinion.
You are very welcome to your opinion. Who else have you seen on that list? Did you see Nick Nolte in Warrior?
