Mara (by Jeff Vesp)

(Marie Claire, May 2010)

Kate Mara (Entourage, Nip/Tuck), 27, goes totally blockbuster in this month’s Iron Man 2 [and lends James Franco a hand in 127 Hours]. The multitalented NFL princess—one great-grandfather founded the Giants; another, the Steelers—tackles the MC questionnaire.

MC: You’ve sung the national anthem at Giants Stadium many times. What goes through your mind out there?

KM: Trying not to forget the words. I zone out and pretend there aren’t thousands of people there, because—oh, my God—what if I go blank?

MC: Best memory of the Giants winning the Super Bowl in 2008?

KM: My whole life, I had never been allowed in the locker room—but at the Super Bowl, we went in. It was funny walking into one with my grandma!

MC: What’s your go-to karaoke song?

KM: This is really nerdy, but “A Whole New World” from Aladdin.

MC: What’s your best feature?

KM: My hair. Even when I was a kid, I had this insane head of flaming hair. It looked like a wig.

MC: What’s your favorite indulgence?

KM: Shoes! I just bought tan Christian Louboutin peep-toe pumps with fringe.

MC: What superhero power would you most like to have?

KM: Flying. Whenever I dream about flying, it’s the best feeling in the world.

MC: What’s your signature drink?

KM: Dunkin’ Donuts coffee.

MC: I can’t go to sleep until …

KM: My Boston terriers, Bruno and Lucius, are in bed with me. Bruno snores like an old man, but it’s become soothing—when I’m away, I have to sleep with the TV on because I’m used to the snoring.
