Schuyler Fisk, Sissy Spacek, Marie Claire, Restless, Blue Ribbon Winner, Virginia

Fisk is no Spacek Cadet

Marie Claire Radar

Laid-back Schuyler Fisk, 29 –look-alike  daughter of Sissy Spacek — splits her talents between acting (she costars in Restless) and music (her latest CD is Blue Ribbon Winner). Here, she strikes a chord with the MC questionnaire:

MC: You grew up on a farm. Does that mean you had more horses than cars as a teen?

SF: I was a big rider; every thing from show jumping to fox hunting. It’s exciting — and dangerous!

MC: What is your hidden talent?

SF: I can juggle. I’m not at the chainsaw-and-egg level of juggling, but when I was touring with my band, I’d juggle on the bus — that’s hard because you’re always moving.

MC: Secret obsession?

SF: My dog, Rigby. an 11-month-old yellow lab. When I talk, she tilts her head like “oh, really?”

MC: Signature drink?

SF: Vodka gimlet with fresh lime.

MC: Best vacation ever?

SF: I spent a summer in Australia on the set of The Thin Red Line with my dad [production designer Jack Fisk]. The whole cast was hot. A circus came to town, so all the guys took me for my 15th birthday: Jim Caviezel, Ben Chaplin, Adrien Brody. I was in heaven.

Need to Meet: Elisabeth Moss

Mad about Moss

Elisabeth Moss, 27, is having a stellar year. She married Saturday Night Live’s Fred Armisen, won a Screen Actors Guild award for Mad Men, and starred in Broadway’s Speed-the-Plow. This month, Moss stars in Get Me To the Greek and answers the MC questionnaire.

MC: What do you wish you knew five years ago?

EM: That I was going to be happily married — but if you told me that five years ago, I wouldn’t have believed you, anyway.

MC: What’s your best feature?

EM: My eyes. I like the color. They’re blue. I convey a lot with them.

MC: What makes you a good friend?

EM: I don’t judge. Everyone is capable of making mistakes, and we all learn from them, hopefully.

MC: Do you have a hidden talent?

EM: I have a really good ability to find other people’s things that are lost, like glasses. My mother calls me “the finder of all things.” That, and I’m not bad at Jeopardy!

MC: What’s something most people don’t know about you?

EM: I was serious about being a ballerina until I was 15. But the life of a dancer, although glorious, is short.

MC: Do you have any scars?

EM: One between my eyes. I was in a taxi accident in New York six years ago. It was snowing and I hit my face — I got nine stitches. I’m a little proud of it. It’s kind of like a war wound.

MC: What’s your favorite indulgence?

EM: Kit Kats! Nothing gets me like a really sugary Kit Kat bar.

MC: Biggest vice?

EM: Sleeping. I would do every thing in bed if I could.

Need to Meet: Maggie Q

August 28, 2011 By Thelma Leave a Comment

Maggie Q, Nikita, doglover, CW, Action heroine

The Q Factor

Eurasian beauty Maggie Q, 31, debuts her own butt-kicking CW series, Nikita, this month. Here, she pummels the MC questionnaire:

MC: You’re an action star – do you have any scars?

MQ: My most massive one is from when I was walking one of my dogs a year ago. He chased a deer in the woods near my house and the buck started attacking him with his antlers. I screamed, threw my tea, and jumped on the deer’s back. He tossed me six feet, punctured my leg with his rack and left a rip from the back of my thigh up to my lower back. I have insane scars – and a really good dermatologist. For my character on Nikita, they’re kind of great — no make-up for Maggie!

MC:  What’s been your best vacation?

MQ: Two years ago, I was in the oldest monastery in Tibet, and the abbot took me into the room where they had a statue of the Goddess of Compassion. She had prayer beads wrapped around her hand, and the monk said: “I think these belong to you,” and gave them to me. I hadn’t yet shown him my tattoo of her mantra. That monk understood the heart of me.

MC: What’s the first thing you wake up thinking about?

MQ: My dogs. They’re right in my face: two shepherd mixes, Lady and Caesar, and Pedro, a Chihuahua

MC: I can’t go to sleep unless I’ve…

MQ: Had a lavender tea.

MC: You’re go to drugstore makeup?

MQ: Rose oil from Whole Foods.

MC: What’s your favorite holiday?

MQ: Halloween. I am always Wonder Woman. Always.

MC: What’s the most unusual place you’ve had sex?

MQ: In a yurt!

Need to Meet: Kelly Macdonald

August 28, 2011 By Thelma Leave a Comment

Kelly MacDonald,Emmy Awards,Boardwalk Empire,Freddie Mercury,Actress Mothers, Glasgow, Scotland

Pretty in Green: Macdonald

Kelly Macdonald, 34, breaks out big time in the new HBO epic Boardwalk Empire. Here, she bets on the MC questionnaire.

MC: Do you have a hidden talent?

KM: I’m maddeningly good at knowing which celeb goes out with whom. My husband [Scottish rocker Dougie Payne] is always astounded by it.

MC: What is your best feature?

KM: Gosh, hairdressers are always saying that I have good hai4r, that there’s a lot of it.

MC: What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

KM: That my 2-year-old son, Freddie, is named after Freddie Mercury.

MC: What do you wish you knew five years ago?

KM: Just how exhausting parenting is. I would have taken more holidays.

MC: Do you have any scars?

KM: I have a scar on my forehead from a Glasgow University bar. I was a bit drunk, and my friend and I were going to the toilets. I’d fallen over, so she propped me against the wall, then slammed the door against my forehead. Not very clever!

MC: What was your worst job?

KM: I worked at a fish-and-chips shop. The smell was unbelievable — my hair and clothes reeked.

MC: What’s the best vacation you’ve ever taken?

KM: We went to a lovely place in the Turks and Caicos. We were followed in the water by a stingray. At the time my husband was like, “It’s fine, they’re totally safe.” But then Steve Irwin was killed by one, and that changed the whole story.

MC: What superpower would you most want to have?

KM: To be able to fly. No more waiting in airport queues.
